In times of stress, take a step back from the world and breathe: then go outside
on a starry night, somewhere quiet, and look up to the dark skies. See the
distant stars and just reflect one tranquil moment. Remember we are a cog in
the  universe so small and fleeting that your stresses and strains are not even
a  blink of an eye in the cosmic code. Our lives and jobs are all we know, but
that  does not make them everything.

Smith goes to see his supervisor in the front office.

"Boss," he says, "we're doing some heavy house-cleaning at home tomorrow, and my wife needs me to help with the attic and the garage, moving and hauling stuff."

"We're short-handed, Smith" the boss replies. "I can't give you the day off."

"Thanks, boss," says Smith "I knew I could count on you!"

A radical feminist is getting on a bus, when just in front of her, a man gets up and offers his seat.

She thinks to herself,

'Here's another man trying to keep up the customs of a patriarchal society by offering a poor, defenseless woman his seat', and she pushes him back onto the seat.

A minute later, the man tries to get up again.

She is insulted again and refuses to let him up.

This goes on a couple more times over the next few
minutes.

Finally, the man says, 'Look, lady, you've got to let me get up,
I should have gotten off 4 stops ago.

Whatever you do today, do it with bundles of enthusiasm. With the best will in the world it is impossible to maintain energy and focus in everything we do day to day, and it can become a chore and a drag. Try to recapture some of that wonderful magic of pure belief, drive, energy and focus today and enjoy injecting it into anything that you do.

Education Thoughts
Do not underestimate the importance of an education. If you are in your
teens, then it can seem as though education is not important: the most
well-paid  people are footballers and the biggest idols are musicians,
celebrities and  people who are famous for being famous.

However,
question what really  matters in life. One of the great things about being human
is we have the gift  to develop the mental side of ourselves to a very large
extent. Rather than  focusing on the physical and adoration from our peers,
spend these formative  years working hard to better yourself and fully develop
mentally. You may not  understand it now, but therein lies the path to true
fulfillment.

Do not take shortcuts to achieve your goals by compromising your values and morals. You will find that taking that path means that when you reach your goal you will not be able to enjoy it due to the pangs of conscience and it will be
a  Pyrrhic victory. Rather work hard to achieve your goals, and when they come, the  satisfaction will be even more intense and the sense of success sweeter.

Dear Lord,

So far today, I am doing alright

I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or self indulgent.

I have not whined, complained or cursed,or eaten any
chocolate.

I have charged nothing on my credit card.

But I will be getting out of my bed in a minute and I think that I'll really need your help then.

What did you dream of doing when you were younger? Chances are that those plans changed either through reality and life kicking in or an inability to actually achieve your dreams through life getting in the way. Today think about those dreams again - and if you would still like to pursue any of them, take
the  first small steps. Maybe something as simple as enrolling on an adult education  class in that subject, or researching more on the internet, but do take that  step - it could be the start of a fascinating journey.

I was driving to work this morning when my car stalled in the damp weather. I was sitting in the car at the side of the highway, contemplating my next move, when a pigeon flew down and landed right in the middle of the hood of the car.

It seemed fairly tame, and I soon became fascinated in watching it up close as it strutted around and made cooing noises.

A few minutes passed, and two more pigeons flew in and joined the first bird.

Pigeons seem to be attracted by crowds and soon I was sitting there with a whole hood full of pigeons, all cooing loudly and beginning to change the color of my hood.

Gradually I noticed that the birds seemed to be trying to get my
attention, which was unnerving, since I had always regarded pigeons as rather stupid birds.

But, sure enough, several of them were dragging a piece of
rope around on the hood, and several others were flying out in front of the car and returning to the hood.

All of a sudden, I realized what they were doing, so I yanked open the door and wildly chased them all off.

No way was I going to be pigeon towed!

Cottage Life... 04/03/2012

One of the most devastating and shocking aspects we can feature in life is crime. The rage and anger, perhaps, of feeling violated or disrespected and the overarching desire for revenge, retribution and punishment. Or simply the shock and numbness of a mindless attack by someone we barely believe deserves to be considered human. In these times, you must remember the good things in life: the  good people, the people who matter to you, the people who are your friends, your  family and your inspiration. When everything is in a state of flux, remember  that some things always stay the same: true love others have for you is  unswerving, and will get you through.
