It is easy to go through life and to forget to stay in touch with those who matter to you. Make a concerted effort today to get in touch with someone you haven't been in contact with for a while. Whether it's a phone call, a letter in  the post or an email - the form of communication is not important, but the effort and thought is what counts.

A couple is dressed and ready to go out for the evening.
They  phone for a cab, turn on a night light, cover their pet parakeet and put the cat  out in the back yard.

The taxi arrives, and they open the front door to  leave. Suddenly the cat they put out scoots back into the house. They don't want  the cat shut in there because she always tries to eat the bird. The wife goes  out to the taxi while the husband goes back in. The cat runs upstairs, with the  man in hot pursuit.

The wife doesn't want the driver to know the house  will be empty. She explains to the taxi driver that her husband will be out  soon. "He's just going upstairs to say goodbye to my mother."

A few  minutes later the husband gets into the cab.

"Sorry I took so long," he  says, as they drive away. "Stupid hag
was hiding under the bed. Had to poke her  with a coat hanger to get her to come
out! Then I had to wrap her in a blanket  to keep her from scratching me. But it
worked. I hauled her fat butt downstairs  and threw her out into the back yard!

The cab driver hit a parked  car.

Three men wanted to cross a river. They had no idea how to 
 cross it, so one man knelt down on his knees and prayed "Lord give me the power and strength the cross the river." suddenly the man became very strong and swam across the river. The next man thought: if it worked for him, it'll work for me.  So he knelt down and prayed "Lord give the skills and the strength to cross the  river." the man built a canoe and rowed himself across the river. The last man  thought: if it worked for both of them, I know it'll work for me. So he also  knelt down and prayed "Lord give me the wisdom and knowledge to cross the river." He turned into a woman and walked across the bridge.

Value your friendships. A good friendship can last for life, whereas other relationships may come and go a solid friendship can be the corner stone of you and your friend's lives, so take the time to cultivate and work on your friendships. When you feel that you are starting to drift apart from a friend, take steps to remedy it before it is too late. Try to spend some quality time 
with your best friends each week.

Do not fall into the trap of getting obsessed with fashion and superficiality at the expense of looking at your character and the character of those around you. Fashion is something that is important when the rest of our lives are either so good that there is nothing else to worry about, or because they are
so  empty of real value and meaning that we start to get our priorities wrong.

The clothes that you wear do not make who you are, there is so 
much more to you than that. Remember what matters today, and don't be so quick to judge others.

A man is stopped by the police at midnight and asked where he’s
going.

“I’m on the way to listen to a lecture about the effects of
alcohol and drug abuse on the human body.”

The policeman asks, “Really? And who’s going to give a lecture at this time of night?”

“My wife”, he replied.

There was a new preacher who wanted to rent a house in the country. The only
house available was rumored to be haunted.

Since the preacher didn't
believe in such things, he rented it.

It wasn't long before the ghost
made its appearance. The preacher told his friends about the ghost, but they
didn't believe him.

They told him the only way they would believe was if
he would take a picture of the ghost.

The preacher went home and called
for the ghost.

When it appeared, the preacher explained the situation
and asked the ghost if it would mind having its picture taken. The ghost
agreed.

When the picture was developed, the ghost wasn't visible, feeling
very disappointed, the preacher called again for the ghost.

When it
appeared, the preacher showed it the picture and wanted to know why the ghost
wasn't in it.

The ghost thought a minute and replied, "Well, I guess the
spirit was willing, but the flash was weak."  

There are few things in life as important as our family, so why is it that we so often take them for granted?

That's why, today, you should make a special effort to show appreciation for your family. Buy them a little present, 
tell those close to you that you love them, call up those familymembers you haven't spoken to in a while and have a chat and catch-up: all simple steps, but  none the less important for that.

Mistakes

A building contractor was being paid by the week for a job that was likely to stretch over several months.

He approached the owner of the property and held up the check he'd been given.

'This is two hundred dollars less than we agreed on,' he said.

'I know,' the owner said. 'But last week I
overpaid you two hundred dollars, and you never complained.'

The contractor said. 'Well, I don't mind an occasional mistake, but when it gets to be a habit, I feel I have to call it to your attention.' 

Remember to focus on what is truly important to yourself and your family. The distractions of the daily grid and chores can take you away from what is really important, but always remain true to yourself, your values, and your goals. 
Therein lies the path to happiness.
